In one paragraph. Your data stays yours; we only use it to run the Service for you. Loading data and reading your dashboards is free; saving that work needs a paid monthly plan, which you can cancel any time and keep using until the end of the period you have paid for. Anchor BI Online is in active development, so it may change or be interrupted. The dashboards and AI commentary are informational tools, not accounting, tax or investment advice, you remain responsible for your own numbers and the decisions you make from them. Our liability is limited, as spelled out below.
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Anchor Partners LLC, of Charlotte, North Carolina, trading as Anchor BI ("Anchor BI", "we", "us"), covering the anchorbi.com website, the Anchor BI Online dashboard application, and any consulting engagement we perform unless a separate signed agreement governs it. By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you are using the Service for a company, you confirm you are authorized to accept on its behalf, and "you" means both you and that company.
If a signed statement of work or master services agreement exists between us, that document controls where it conflicts with these Terms.
Anchor BI Online lets you load financial exports and read them back as statements, dashboards and exports. Anchor BI engagements deliver Power BI reporting built inside your own environment.
You should know what you are signing up for: Anchor BI Online is early and under active development. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn. There may be interruptions. We offer no uptime commitment and no service level agreement. Do not use the Service as the only copy of anything, keep your source files, which in any case never leave your machine.
You own your data. The files you load, the figures derived from them, the statement structures you build and the notes you write remain yours. We claim no ownership.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, process and display that data solely to operate the Service for you, and for no other purpose. We do not sell it, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models. How it is handled in practice is set out in our Privacy Policy and Security page.
You are responsible for the data you load. By loading it you confirm that you have the right to do so, and that doing so does not breach any law, contract or duty of confidentiality you owe to someone else. Please do not load Social Security numbers, government identifiers, health information, or payment card numbers, the Service is not built to hold them.
Anchor BI uses Claude, provided by Anthropic, to write plain-English commentary on figures our software has already computed from your data, and to help categorize account names. Section 6 of the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is and is not sent.
The commentary is generated by a language model. It is instructed to describe only the figures it was given and never to invent numbers, but it can still be wrong, incomplete, or miss context it was never given. Read it as a starting point, not a conclusion. Check anything material against your own records before you rely on it, present it, or act on it.
Account categorization suggestions are proposals for you to confirm. You are responsible for the final mapping of your chart of accounts, and therefore for the statements that follow from it.
Anchor BI is a reporting tool. Nothing in the Service, no dashboard, statement, export or commentary, is accounting, audit, tax, legal or investment advice, and using the Service does not create an accountant-client, auditor-client or fiduciary relationship.
We do not audit, review or verify your data. Figures are computed from what you load; if what you load is wrong or incomplete, the output will be too. You remain responsible for your books, your filings, and every decision you make.

If you connect an outside system such as QuickBooks Online, you authorize it through that provider's own consent screen, and your use of their service is governed by their terms. We are not responsible for a third-party provider's availability, accuracy, or changes to their API. You can disconnect at any time from your settings.
Loading data and reading your dashboards costs nothing. Saving that work to an account is what a paid plan buys, and the plans and their prices are listed on our pricing page.
Billing period. Plans are monthly and renew automatically on the same day each month until you cancel. We charge the plan and any modules on it in advance, at the start of each period. Prices are in U.S. dollars, exclusive of any sales tax, which is added where we are registered to collect it.
How you are charged. Payments are processed by Stripe, which hosts the payment page and stores your card; we never receive it. By subscribing you authorize us to charge your payment method for each renewal until you cancel. If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it over a short period and email you; your access continues while it retries, and stops if it ultimately cannot be collected.
Changing your plan. Add or remove a module at any time from your settings. Changes take effect immediately and are prorated, so an upgrade mid-period is charged only the difference for the days remaining.
Cancellation, and no refunds. You may cancel at any time from the billing portal in your settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep full use of the Service until that date, and you are not charged again. We do not give refunds or credits for a period already begun, including partial months, unused time, or a downgrade taking effect mid-period. Nothing in this paragraph limits a right to a refund that you have under law and that cannot be waived.
Price changes. We may change our prices. If we do, we will email registered users at least 30 days before the change applies to their plan, and the new price takes effect on their next renewal after that notice. Cancelling before then avoids it.
Promotional codes. A discount or free-trial code applies only for the period it states. Unless the code says otherwise, your plan then renews at its ordinary price, and cancelling before that renewal is how you avoid the charge. Codes have no cash value and may be withdrawn at any time before they are redeemed.
Free and trial accounts. An account with no paid plan may be limited or closed if it is unused for a long period. We will email you before closing an account for inactivity.
Consulting engagements are priced separately in a written proposal or statement of work, and that document governs their fees and payment terms.
You may stop using the Service at any time, and delete your dashboards or your account from your settings. If you are on a paid plan, cancel it from the billing portal as described in section 9; deleting your account does not by itself cancel a subscription. See section 9 of the Privacy Policy for what deletion does and does not remove.
We may modify or discontinue features, and we may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms or that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully. Except where a breach makes it impractical, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will give registered users at least 30 days' notice.
The Service, its software, design, text and the Anchor BI name and mark, belongs to us. These Terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service, and nothing more. Dashboards and exports you generate from your own data are yours to use however you like.
If you send us suggestions, bug reports or ideas, we may use them freely and without obligation to you. We will not identify you or your company publicly without your permission.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY FIGURE, PARSE RESULT OR AI-GENERATED COMMENTARY WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ANCHOR BI WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT OR ANY OTHER THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN EXCLUSIONS OR LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING HERE LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LAWFULLY BE LIMITED.
These limits reflect what the Service costs and what it is: a reporting tool that reads figures you supply, not a system of record and not a substitute for your accountant. Where we perform a paid consulting engagement, liability is governed by that engagement's own agreement.
You agree to indemnify and hold Anchor BI harmless from claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from data you loaded that you had no right to load, from your breach of these Terms, or from your violation of law or of a third party's rights.

We may update these Terms as the Service develops. The effective date above will change, and for material changes we will notify registered users by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
